Hanukkah : Tell Your Children!

Whether you are interested in “Hebraic Roots” or are just open to the diversity of your neighbors, it is a fine thing to know about Hanukkah. IN 2018, Hanukkah begins December the 2nd at dusk.
I’ll tell you a little bit about how Hanukkah showed up in my neighborhood and school when I was a little girl. (Spoiler: Christians and Jews had great relations in my city.) Then I will tell you about the history that Hanukkah comes from. It will inspire you. And give you some more ideas of holiday things to do with your children.

Then, next week, we will break from our holiday theme to talk about test anxiety. So many students are facing finals at this time of the year, so I will have a basket of ideas for parents, teachers, and youth on how to steer through the difficulties presented by test anxiety.

Until then, enjoy the holiday time of year. Hasn’t God dealt wondrously with us?

The Truth About Columbus Day and Thanksgiving Day

I hope you enjoy your time off. I hope you celebrate both Columbus Day and Thanksgiving Day with your children. Let’s talk about those. It is important.
BTW, notice, I quote original documents.
Do you know what all this fake news and fake history is about? See 2 Thessalonians 2:12: they believe lies because they love wickedness. We were told that this would happen. And if you think back honestly, you will realize that is exactly what is happening. People wanted to cast off restraint so they chose the version of reality or the argument that permitted such. Then that became the only argument. Then it shouts down the real truth. Then righteousness becomes looked upon as evil. That is exactly what has happened: a different value set has been substituted and is being taught everywhere. So children stand up and yell at their teachers — even teachers who would have been counted as liberal in any other time. And think they have acted wisely! Imagine, then, how other children feel? They are intimidated if even teachers and professors are. You MUST know about this.

God’s Advice for Dangerous Times for Teachers

Yes! God has advice for teachers in dangerous times! Wow! Yes! Right there in 2 Timothy! And it works!
Sorry for the technical difficulties, but we are now back on our dangerous times series. This is part one for teachers, but parents will want to listen too!
Please share this with any Christian teacher. You can share on Facebook — or just send them the link. Thanks!

Pray in Faith

We are told that in our praying we should first of all pray for authorities. It makes sense. Because they are authorities, they influence our lives. Whether we like them or not, we should pray for them. Right now, in a democratic republic, right before an election, seems like a good time to pray. Let’s think about praying then, for our nation, our leaders, especially in our schools, even our children’s teacher. This is also part of how to navigate in dangerous times.

Also, btw, the largest Christian broadcaster in the nation, Kenneth Copeland Ministries, is running a series on praying for the nation, and will also run a special broadcast on election night. He is encouraging people to vote based on godly principles. With that, I agree.

Faith and action got together.
