The Case of Amos Miller and Food Safety for the Prevention of Learning Disabilities

I think our band of lionesses, interested in overcoming learning problems will be vitally interested in the case of Amos Miller, Amish farmer, who is being harassed, prosecuted and downright persecuted for being a good Amish farmer. After being harassed by the FDA fro decades, he prevailed. Now the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has gone beyond their legal mandate, lied to the court, seized property, dictated destruction of food that even their own tests showed was perfect. They would not let the food, some of which had already been purchased, even be sold to pigs. They even went so far as to ration food to the Miller family they that they themselves had grown.

Never over 20 years has anyone complained or gotten sick from Amos Miller’s food. Not one. He runs a club, and not a retail operation; so everyone knows how he farms. Indeed,that is why they buy from him. In court last week, families testified under penalty of perjury that they and their children needed this food for their health, in on at least one case, their very life. One family said that their child was autistic and after depending upon the natural Amish food, he was no longer autistic. They testified that even in the interim during the seizure of the food during the investigation and court proceedings, their life and health was at risk. They pleaded with the judge to permit their children this food. The prosecution thought he had them, when he questioned who paid for their trip. He had. Defense attorney has already drastically reduced his fee; his firm is working on donations.

JUSTICE FALLEN IN THE STREETS

The Dept. of Agriculture of Pennsylvania had to lie to the court to be able to start this mess. They continue to lie.To the court. To the media. Who doesn’t even check the other side, but merely publishes the lies of the government. Indeed, whent hey lie so egregiously on the stand, the Amish just couldn’t process it. They are not used to lying in their society. However, the witnesses for the Dept of Ag lied so egregiously that the Prosecutor had to several times redirect.

It was kind of like this: “It is not like you want to be in charge of all food that everyone everywhere eats, is it? Oh yes!”

The First Amendment, guaranteeing the right to freedom of religion has been abridged. The fourth Amendment, protecting warrantless and unreasonable searches has been violated. A number of other rights in the 10 Amendment have been violated.  The State Constitution of PA has been violated. Due process has been violated.

The Court likes privacy (which is a violation.) The Bailiff, with guns, told even reporters that if they took notes in the courtroom, they would be imprisoned.

WHY NOT JUST GET A PERMIT?

Media passes on the idea that Amos Miller is just resisting getting a permit. This is a misunderstanding at best. You know how it goes: when a big bunch of lies is discredited, the most likely more reasonable sounding one is picked for a last stand.  In the first place, anything that is permitted is restricted by law; this is a dimunition of freedom. Secondly under PA law, a permit for selling raw milk includes the promise that sales of other raw milk products like raw milk cheese will not be sold. Thus, such a permit would drastically reduce the Miller business. However, given that Miller is not a retail operation, then permitting is not required. Further, labeling laws do not apply.

It is not clear how the case will be decided. According to Mr. Barnes, it appeared to him that the judge did care about the (only 4 he permitted) children;s health, the past behavior of the court is to side unthinkingly with government actors.  Not just these children’s lives and learning ability will be at risk. This case will set a precedent against food freedom, religious freedom, and the well-being of our country in general. The FDA is watching. They pick the perfect, literally, case.

Oops! I just heard Mr. Barnes say that being a private club is not a defense. What? At any rate, I am sure I did hear him say previously that Amos Miller’s operation is NOT a retail operation. So, this detail I do not fully understand, but given the extent to which I have listened to Mr. Barnes, his evident high reputation, and obvious legal credentials — this must be the way it is.

Have you noticed that there is nothing available in government schools about financial topics? Unless, just lately, the credit card companies are invited to come in? Have you noticed that even in business schools in university, seldom is there anything for entrepreneurs? Have you noticed that entrepreneurial education, offered by entrepreneurs is very expensive? And sometimes a little deceptive? At least hard to sort out? And certainly not available to poor children. Worse, the education and mentorship available to the poor is often of the poorest quality and even teaches them CONTRARY TO what a successful business would teach them. I sure have noticed this. Repeatedly.

This could be the answer to poverty! And so much more!

If education is not about work, what is it doing?

Enter Susan Maher. She broke the mold, in my opinion, by helping the most exclusive schools see that they could help students who, while extremely bright, were not at that point producing academics as well as expected. Some direct teaching in what I call study skills and just a little accommodation, and then we have these students shining.  She has more vision. She want poor children to have access to practical, applicable business training so they can be entrepreneurs where they are.

And she has seen it work. In a project with others, a curriculum was created and taught. It works in poor areas in the US and in very poor countries. The same curriculum works in Puerto Rico and poor Chicago. It had immediate economic impact. Hear her explain how business or entrepreneurship can be taught easily and frugally to children who need it.

Explanation of CRT Critical Race Theory

Critical Race Theory is a “conflict theory” or in other words, an analysis of society based on Marxist philosophy, only substituting “white” and “of color” for capital and labor because those categories did not raise enough conflict in the US. People in the USA nearly always classify themselves as “middle class” and workers also own at least part of the means of production, so that analysis failed.

Marx wrote in Das Kapital that he did not care about founding his social analysis on science, but rather felt it was better to simply increase conflict. We see the history of his followers has done exactly that. While the change from Tsar to communist that we call “The Bolshevik” revolution was accompllshed with few deaths — mostly those of the elite, thereafter, a bloodbath followed. Even revolutionaries found themselves in prison or executed for not being of the right party.

Epoch Times, a newspaper started in communist China, reports on the fundamental characteristic of eliminating the middle in order to create conflict between the extremes. We certainly have seen that for years in the United States of America — and I always figured that someone was directly profiting from that. The leaders of our two major political parties, for instance, gave half a story to their followers, demonized the other side, saying “energize the base. ”  Thus, they got citizens fighting with each other, while the leaders, the elite, walked away with the lion’s share of the productivity. The conflict was a smoke screen in order to steal.

We could have had a dialog and worked toward smarter decisions that embraced the insights of both sides. That is not what the leaders wanted to do. We did not use the techniques of dialog or facilitated meetings. Instead, they “energized the base” and spun news reports and made narrow casting.

Now, the situation is worse. We have obvious propaganda channels constantly promoting emotion, on top of pervasive censorship of the best most scientific sources, on top of a longstanding pervasively poor educational system at all levels. Now we have mass intimidation of professionals. The elite are willing to risk a total breakdown of economics in order to enforce, illegally and unconstitutionally, something that makes not one whit of health sense. Reports from Australia and Canada, where gun rights are not embraced, are horrific.

Every parent wants to set their child up for a good life. They can do that mostly by what they teach them. Giving them an inheritance of course helps, but the inheritance of mindset, worldview and knowledge and skills are even more important. This is perhaps the most practical teaching on the subject of getting rich that you will ever hear. I do have more, but I will save it for the time when more people want to hear it.
