Was just in a convo on Linked In about apps for tots. Books coming out. More apps coming out. Most think great — as long as appropriate.
What is “appropriate?” Remember, we are talking about microwave based software on a radiant screen.
My thought, then, would be: NO apps for tots. First I would worry about possible safety hazards and the likelihood those would not be reported if known. Secondly I do not see the utlity of such for tots, but do see the potential for distracting them from developmental needs. Young chilren need to be learning how to read and deal with people, and they need to learn how to move and strengthen their bodies to deal with the regular world. It seems that working in the virtual world would be unhelpful quite aside from the safety hazards.
What do you think?
