READing the Bible

Getting an opportunity to listen to more broadcasts and CDs and DVDs of faith preaching. It is so wonderful.

However, I noticed that no matter how much I HEAR the Word preached, it is not like READing it myself. Some of these broadcasts have visual and some put the Scripture on the screen, but that just doesn’t tell me as much as I can get from seeing it in context, nor is it as memorable.

I sure do love some of these colleagues’ work.  Maybe the effect is exaggerated with me because I am a visual person.  Nevertheless,  I thought I would mention it.  There is nothing like seeing the Scripture printed in context.  What I am going to do is make it more a point to get out my Bible and read along when I hear preaching.  I am not ever going to get lazy and depend upon just a verse of Scripture projected.  I want to learn as fast, as much, and as sure as I can.

Surely you will join me in this.  Sounds like a good New Year’s resolution.
