Following up from Carl Sommer, teacher to educational reformer, to machine shop guru, to award winning publisher and Christian broadcaster, Carl Sommer has had a wonderful life. It didn’t start out that way. He had a rough start from his home of origin. Then, he served New York as a teacher, until he took off a year to study what was wrong. His book on the subject made an impact and he moved his family to Texas. There, he decided a teacher’s salary couldn’t support 5 children, so he started a machine shop. In 2017,when I interviewed him, it was the best and biggest in the nation. One son ran that while the other ran the publishing house.  Great books, suitable for public school libraries that snuck in good values. He was also producing children’s programming for TBn at the time.
