Can We Handle His/Her Learning Disability in Homeschool?

Should we take our child out of government school? Oh my gosh yes! What are you waiting for?

Can we handle his/her learning disability? Oh my gosh, yes! Let’s break it down.

How well are things going now? What is the best solution to your child’s learning problem? Can’t that be remedied at home better than at school?

What is a learning disability, anyway? How has that language shifted the conversation?

Let’s talk.

by the way, The Home School Legal Defense Association was founded by lawyer parents who saw a need for their own children to be homeschooled, and realized that other parents needed their legal help . Here is their website : https://hslda.org/

Dr. Ted Edwards Talks to us about Forgiveness as Vital to Healing

Back when we were on the radio, Dr. Ted Edwards, MD, well known in Austin as a leading physician regarding female hormones and longevity. What is also true is that he was an active Baptist layman. Told me a story about testifying to his (tall steeple) pastor while on a leisure walk.

Today, he talks about forgiveness and the important of such in healing. Holding onto resentment causes people to not heal up. Even can make disease come back.

Not about making sin okay, but about giving it to God, so that we don’t keep hurting. In Greek “forgiveness” is from aphesis, which can be translated either as “remittance of sin” and as “letting it go”   A friend says, “giving it to God.”  That is like “rolling your cares onto Jesus.”

I notice that Dave Asprey on his podcast with Dr. Caroline Leaf said his idea of forgiveness is like choosing not to be quantumly entangled.

Enjoy. Be free.

Summer Thinking Activity

SOMETHING TO DO THIS SUMMER

Thinking skills could be a curricula. If you want that, let me know. For now, following our last episode of things to do with your children this summer, here is an example of a conversation that could be used as a thinking lesson. It just happened to me on … well… another social media platform. Kind of annoyed me this morning, so I thought I would use it as an example.

There are a lot of controversial things going on today. Use a conversation about one as an example to lead your children into better thinking. Just part of the daily conversation. Becomes a lesson – the best kind. And a bonding time, too.

MAIN TAKEAWAYS ON HOW TO THINK

I summarize my main points in how to think well – and how to not get snookered . Here they are:

  • Nail down definitions and keep them nailed down
  • Determine what the proposition is and stay on that one proposition
  • Distinguish between facts and judgments
  • Disallow ad hominem arguments from substituting for actual discussion
  • Ask what the interest is of the interlocutor/ why is this being said?

Don’t Be Snatched! Tips

My tips on how to avoid being snatched. Altho I am no expert on self-defense, I am passing along to you what has worked for me, what I have learned over the years through reading, and some ideas, as I understand them, from a recent self-defense presentation.  We hear “head on a swivel” but what exactly should we do and what should we look out for? I relay some stories.

I do recommend getting more training. There are a number of outlets online, including gun clubs, that have self-defense training. There may be videos from “preppers” on the various video platforms.

PROBABILITY MAY INCREASE

I am hearing both via experts on Rumble and via the self-defense expert that I allude to, that the probability of an American woman and/or her children being snatched is at a high and going higher. This is because there had been a very lucrative trade in humans, and the supply has gone down, but not the demand.

GETTING AT THE ROOT

May God help us! May the demand go down by a general revival of religion! We do hear that more younger men are turning to God. May it be and may it increase. The reason why The United States has been a safe and propserous country was that we were formed on the basis of a Biblical culture. It was those ideas that caused liberty and restrained government. Think of it: no where else in history have women been so free as to travel alone – except in the countries that were saturated in Christianity. Then, in those countries that lost that, they are losing safety and freedom as well. Let that not be us!

One example of online self-defense training for women

The instructor in this video has learned traditional martial arts. Therefore, she doesn’t pay enough attention to the need to YELL and RUN. Women need to learn that YELLING, especially when people are around is an option. When someone “hugs” you — object loudly and do not let their shaming stop you. THEY WERE ACTING INAPPROPRIATELY. YOU have the decision making power. Don’t touch me! Get away! Are all appropriate. If you can’t do this in a social group, then you are not free in that group. Learn this and take back your freedom.

Being “not there” is often best. Running is often useful. Sometimes, however, the best option, as this instructor is saying, is control and fight, because running is expected and blocked. You have to use your own judgement. Just trying to point out options!

Here are other examples:

Use your own judgement; I’m just trying to bring awareness and option.
